The CNS offers advanced application support for experimental TEM work. Specialized In Situ holders and stages allow researchers to perform controlled experiments while imaging with our advanced electron microscopes.

Hummingbird Electrical Biasing TEM Holder

Hummingbird Scientific’s in-situ electrical biasing holder allows researchers to investigate the electrical response of materials inside the transmission electron microscope.

Hummingbird Flow Cell

Hummingbird Scientific’s Liquid flow holder allows scientists to image samples in flowing or static liquids, at atomic resolution. This system is a complete, all-in-one solution, opening up exciting new avenues for materials characterization.

Gatan CT3500 Cryo-Transfer TEM holder

Cryo-transfer holders are used in applications that require low temperature transfer and observation of frozen hydrated specimens for cryo-EM.

  • Minimum Operating Temperature: Less than
    -170 °C
  • Cryo-workstation provides protected environment for loading specimen into holder
  • Cryo-shield encapsulates frozen hydrated specimen to protect it from contamination during transfer
  • Compatible with JEOL, FEI, and Zeiss TEMs

Gatan 628 Single Tilt Heated Holder

Single tilt heating holder for direct observation of microstructural phase changes, nucleation, growth and dissolution processes.

  • Maxiumum Temperature: 1300 °C
  • Furnace: Tantalum or Inconel
  • Mechanical link between heater and stage is made of a material with near zero coefficient of expansion to minimize thermal drift
