Login instructions for the new AMD Opteron cluster
 

Secure shell login (i.e. ssh) to the new cluster is accomplished by

>  ssh nnin-login.seas.harvard.edu.

Please note that this only differs from login to the old cluster in the substitution:
deas->seas. Users can immediately begin using the new cluster. Use of the old cluster will be terminated Wednesday, October 24 at 9:00 am. Nodes from the old cluster will be rebuilt and added to the new after the  9 AM timeframe.

The filesystem is common to the new and old clusters and so most user files will need to be moved. The exception is .bashrc and .cshrc files and  some makefiles with hardcoded paths will likely need to be modified to reflect the new paths.

If people have modified their .chsrc/.bashrc profiles by hand to reflect the old paths, then they will have to remove those modifications by hand. In particular, we want to remove references to /group/grid/tree and /deas/vendor.

The goal will be to have a working default environment (i.e. things should work as planned with completely fresh, unsullied .cshrc and .bashrc files).
